An intuitive process of mark making, inspired by nature, without rules, without reference material.

A painterly exposè of hidden worlds, finely balanced eco-systems and micro-climates.
Coral Gardens – a series of maps and memories
This series explores the layered intelligence of coral reef systems as a mirror for personal discovery. Each work reveals a step in a journey – from chaos and complexity to connection and insight. Nature becomes both guide and reflection, inviting us to see more clearly and live more consciously.

Some of what is shown here has sold, others are still available and new work is landing on this website often.
I'm also happy to discuss a commission if you have a space, size and colour palette in mind.
About my process...
My painting process is all about play. From start to finish the forms that take shape are layered using brushes, palette knives, combs, sticks and a rubber scraper. Water (and sometimes ink) is applied to blend, wash and wipe away medium and create areas of translucency.
I work predominantly in acrylics, on canvas and paper. Sometimes with the addition of graphite, charcoal and ink.
Beginning with loose mark making and laying down of paint, I then take steps to 'cut in' with solid or semi solid areas of paint. Sometimes this selection process of blocking out will happen several times to find interesting and intersecting forms within the composition.
